Jumping Spider

I found this jumping spider on a wooden rail on October 27, 2001. The temperature was 50 degrees. This spider had survived the first freeze the day before (27 deg.). I used a Sony MVC-CD1000 in macro mode.

The 4 photos below are the best of about 20 tries.

1. Full sunlight, no flash...

2. Full sunlight with flash. The "spike" that appears to be sticking out of the spider (at right) is part of the wood beam.

3. No flash. Hair spikes on head are more visible.

4. View from above. I don't remember if I used flash.
