Table Salt Crystals

Big P. grew these table salt ( sodium chloride [ NaCl ] ) crystals this past summer in a glass dish. I let salt water evaporate slowly. Near perfect individual NaCl crystals that are this size are difficult to grow because the solubility of NaCl in water does not change much as the water temperature changes. It is easy to grow a mass of tiny crystals, but the individual ones require patience, time, and a controlled environment. The penny is for scale.
