Wheel Bug
I found this very strange flying insect sitting on a wooden stake in my yard in October, 2004. After a bit of research, it turns out to be a wheel bug. It attacks other insects and sucks out their juices, much like a robber fly. It can inflict a painful bite, which I did not know when I picked it up to put in a shrub. Fortunately, it did not bite me ! It stayed very still for some good shots.
